Hydrocarbon "Green" -86°C Ultra-Low Temperature Laboratory Freezers Features
Good for the Environment. Great for Your Lab.
New Brunswick Scientific (NBS) is proud to offer our first hydrocarbon-based ULT freezers, in an effort to deter global warming and meet the environmental requirements of today's laboratory. Our new hydrocarbon freezers not only have the same advanced features as our original Innova® U725 and Premium U570 models, but also offer a 5-10% decrease in power consumption. The result is a decrease in yearly operating costs, an eco-friendly energy-saving design, and the elimination of the use of detrimental HFC refrigerants that contribute to global warming.
Hydrofluorocarbons, currently used in the refrigerant industry, are potent greenhouse gases which can persist in the atmosphere for as long as 15 years. Hydrocarbon is quickly becoming a popular, ecologically neutral replacement gas, and has already been safely adopted in the commercial food and beverage refrigeration industry.
These new NBS "green" freezers have been designed to meet the latest EC regulations and ACRID guidelines for the use of hydrocarbon refrigerants. All NBS freezers are CE certified, meet WEEE Directives for disposal, and are 95-98% recyclable (by weight).
NBS is offering both a traditional air-cooled and new water-cooled system for those facilities able to utilise this technology for increased efficiency and energy savings.
Case Study: University implements cost and carbon saving initiative - reduces energy consumption by nearly half with NBS ULT freezers
In a case-study by the Higher Education Environmental Performance Improvement (HEEPI) the University of Newcastle implemented a cost and carbon-saving initiative focusing on cold storage as the target area. 36 freezers which were more than 10-years old were replaced with mostly New Brunswick Scientific (NBS) -80°C U725-G freezers. Data showed that the old freezers cost up to £2000 a year to run whereas the NBS energy-efficient freezers cost only £527. Annual energy consumption was reduced from 9349 kWh to 5548 kWH.
New Brunswick freezers are the most environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient ultra-low temperature freezers on the market (as of this posting, August 2010.) Further, they are currently one of the only freezers that meet 2012 EC standards for reduced CO2 emissions.
Premium -86° Ultra-Low Temperature Laboratory Freezers Features
Premium Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) Lab Freezers from New Brunswick Scientific (NBS) are the result of over two decades of design innovations, yielding a highly efficient refrigeration system, proven to perform reliably, year after year. Like New Brunswick's Innova® ULT lab freezers, Premium freezers provide quality design, advanced features, and the ability to safely preserve samples over the long term. The main difference is that Premium Freezers utilise traditional urethane insulation, 130mm (5.1") thick, to achieve and maintain ultra-low temperatures of -86°C.
